Joy comes in the morning.

I think this dress has to be my favourite dress. Ever. I feel so girly in it. I know I've shown it to you before, but gah, I had to show it again, this time accesorised differently (With a Hat and Satchel). Accessories are such a good way to switch up an outfit, wouldn't you agree? I had a bit of fun jumping around on my bed shooting it. :D
Poor springs though! :/ lol!

I want to say a big thank you to the lot of you who read yesterday's post, commented and sent me e-mails. A lot of you seem to have been through a similar thing at some point in your life, and It's nice to know that I can identify with you. :)

I'm in a really giddy mood today, and I just want to spread it! I want to let you all know that you are wonderful. ..xo

Some time last week I stumbled across the Facebook profiles of the girls who used to call me "horse face" back in high school. I sat for a while, just staring at their photos, remembering the times when one would push me into the wall in the corridors, or the times when the others would delibarately exclude me from conversations, or the times they'd make fun of the way I looked. They made it their job to make me feel miserable about myself. On some occasions they'd convince me into thinking they really wanted me to be their friend, but I'd soon realise, most times a little too late, it was just another one of their ploys to make me look silly or feel sad.

I was a shy bookworm back then, loved my books. My eyebrows were as thick as caterpillars though, but I was happy. My siblings were my best friends. I was well-behaved and I did my best to bring home good grades. I disliked any form of confrontation, and I tried to stay away from people who were likely to cause it. I guess to these girls, all these qualites were that of a weakling, and they tormented me for it.

For a while I kept these ordeals to myself. I'd cry myself to sleep, and in the morning put on a happy face for my family, just so I don't worry them. Eventually it got too much, my mum began noticing differences in the way I behaved. I became depressed, stopped eating and lost a lot of weight. I was agitated most of the time and I hardly engaged in family activities as I once used to. One weekend, she called me to her side and asked me what was going on, she questioned me about everything, and after much probing I broke down into a flurry of tears and told her what I had been going through the past two years. She held me so close and comforted me and promised me that I'd be okay. She called a meeting the next week at school, with the principal and families of these girls. They learnt that what they'd been doing was wrong and they needed to stop. They did stop, not immediately, but eventually.

Through counselling, and the love I recieved from home, I learned to love and appreciate myself. I learned that if I believed in myself, no-one could argue with that. People started to notice changes, as I regained my confidence. I became my happy self once again, and I vowed to never let another person make me feel bad about myself.

When the time came for me to stop my stalking and close my browser, I couldn't help but smile. These girls gave me a hard time back then, but those hard times played a part in making me who I am today. I'm a stronger person, and I am confident in who I am.

If you're being bullied, don't lose hope, it WILL pass. Confide in your loved ones, let them know what's going on and they will help you. Most importantly, be strong. Accept no-ones definition of your life, but define yourself. There is a tomorrow, and that tomorrow will come. That tomorrow you'll be sitting and marvelling at the person you've become, chuckling to yourself "Where are they now?".

Neutral Everyday Makeup Tutorial, using Drugstore Brands.

Thursday, 24 February 2011

My my. It's been ages since I did a full on make-up tutorial! Today I'll be showing you how to achieve a neutral make-up look that's perfect for school, work, or for those who like natural looking make-up!
I've incorporated a few of my favourite drugstore products, that are of amazing quality!
My bases (face & eyes) however, are not from the drugstore, because I'm yet to find such products from the drugstore that I like. Do you have any reccomendations? I'd like to know!

Can I also mention that I'm from the UK, unfortunately I have no access to other drugstore brands outside, BUT the whole point of the Tutorial is to illustrate that there are tons of products available in drugstores (Most with prices a fraction of our loved High end ones!), and it's all about testing them out and finding what works! :) ..xo

Makeup Trends and my Must-Haves for the Upcoming Spring/Summer season!

Colourful Splash.

This season, embrace a fresh new look with a splash of colourful make-up. Don't worry your little cotton socks if you're a natural make-up lover, adding a hint of colour to your look can be a fun way to brighten things up! There are lots of eyeshadows, lipsticks and blushes in a myriad of colours, textures and finishes, so you're sure to find something you can work with!

Eyes

1-3. Juicy Shades in Orange, Passionate & Lucky Green Eyeshadows (£11.50, MAC)
Sweep across the lid, line eyes with a black liquid liner and coat lashes with voluminous mascara…it's like you just walked off the runway!

4. Green Devil Eye liner (£4.99, GOSH)
Why not switch it up? Forget black eye-liner and go for this lush green instead!

5. Cobalt Blue Mascara (£10.00, The Body Shop)
Combine this with a neutral look for a subtle statement. Apply on the tips of your lashes.

Lips

1. Fuschia Lipstick (£3.99, Sleek)
This hot pink-y fuschia paired with a bare face is just beautiful.

2. Morange Lipstick (£12.50, MAC)
Give the classic hollywood look a lift by opting for this gorgeous orange shade in place of the traditional red!

Cheeks

1. Creme Colour Base in Virgin Isle (£13.50, MAC)
Cream blushes are a great way to add colour to your cheeks! If you're oily like I am, apply some translucent powder over it to set it.

2. Creme Blush in Neon Rose (£6.00, Topshop)

Sheer Beauty.

Sheer and understated make-up is never going to get old. A smidgen of the right mascara, a sweep of a natural looking blush to bring life to the cheeks, with the perfect lip colour ought to do it!

Eyes

1. Collossal Mascara (£6.00, Maybelline)
Define those lashes with a few coats of mascara. This is one of my must-haves for any season. It's a very good quality drugstore mascara that'll give you a voluminous and lengthened look and won't leave your pocket feeling unhappy!

2. Speed Brow (£12.00, Benefit)
Frame your face with decent looking eye-brows. I thread mine, but you can opt for plucking...just make sure you don't over pluck! Follow the natural shape of your brows. This brow set is perfect to keep hairs in place for the whole day!

Lips

1. Fresh Brew Lipstick (£13.50, MAC)
Enhance your natural pout with a lipstick that's close to your lip colour. You can always mix colours together to find the perfct shade.

2. Hug Me Lipstick (£13.50, MAC)
This is a nude lippy with a hint of pink, for those who want a little colour.

Cheeks

1. Sheertone Blush in Peaches (£17.00, MAC)
This sheertone peach blush is oh so lovely. Sweep across the cheeks for that inner glowy look!

London Fashion Week, Day 02 : M·A·C's Booth & Betty Jackson AW11 Show.

Picture me, on one quiet weeknight sitting at my desk going through the last few questions on my Algebra paper, when up pops an e-mail alert. I ponder who it could possibly be from and so I open it. Out from my very lips comes a squeal at the content of the e-mail.

I was kindly invited by M·A·C to join them at their London Fashion Week Booth for a Trend Overview and a make-up masterclass with non other than the amazing Terry Barber, Director of Make-Up Artistry at M·A·C, I read further and found that Betty Jackson's AW11 Show was to follow shortly after. I quickly booked my ticket to London without having as little as a glance at my bank balance, and I began planning my outfit. Much to my delight there were available funds, and I had a bit of an idea what I would don on the glorious day...

We were greeted at the entrance by the lovely Anais, who handed us our badges and led us in to the booth. It was lit beyond belief, and to the side were appetisers laid out nicely for us to delve into. A video was shown, it highlighted trends that had been seen in previous runway shows and trends that are going to be hot in the upcoming season. Terry spoke about them, I learnt that Runway make-up is an art-like exageratted expression of everyday makeup...it's bolder and brighter, but can still be translated into everyday wear. He then worked his magic and created a 70's inspired make-up look, with a futuristic edge.

Afterwards we mingled and took a few pictures, and then made our way to the room where Betty Jackson's AW11 Collection was to be shown. It was a collection of predominantly bright reds (my kinda thing!), a touch of Camel, White and Black. Cashmere knits, sheerling and fleeced detailed peices prevailed. I loved the collection. We spotted a few familiar faces, Jourdan Dunn, who casually walked by where we stood, and Jameela Jamil (who was kind enough to snap a pic with us after!)

It was a surreal experience, and I remember drifting into little daydreams, imagining that this was what I did for a living...

How incredible would that be?

I'm listening to Ellie Goulding's Bright Light's album, typing up this post on my train back to Notts. What a great weekend it has been! Spent an incredible Two days at London Fashion Week with the lovliest of people and I have 297 Photos and Videos to prove it! I'll be putting my favourites up by Tuesday at the latest! Today I stayed in to watch classic movies on TCM with my family, we saw Jane Russel's and Marilyn Monroe's Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, it was so sweet and funny! We were originally meant to go to the cinema, but none of us could move from the comfy positions we occupied in the telly room haha!

Here's what I wore today. I feel like I'm finding my element when it comes to my personal style. I've seen patterns with my growing wardrobe…I'm drawn to soft textures like chiffon, and vintage pieces that add character. I'm seriously having fun putting all of them together! These jeans are definitely a staple piece in my wardrobe, they go with everything, and my oh my…Topshop did a great job in bringing out these Jefferey Campbell Lita Look-a-likes, how I love them so. I call them my LFW Shoes, I've worn them everyday since Friday!! :D ..xo

I'm in London!!! Got in this afternoon and hurried along home to my lovely sweety chums. I managed to snap these photos while the sun was still out as I couldn't let the day go without archiving this . I'm a bit silly in the rest of them, my brother Alan has a way of bringing out this side of me! Lol! There were hardly any serious moments to actually snap the outfit and I had to constantly beg him to stop making me laugh! Aww, but it was so much fun! Hope you still like them! :) ..xo

1. I've had a chilled out couple of days this past week. My mind's in a good place, so everything seems to be at ease.. I guess being on top of Uni work has contributed to this peaceful state of mind lol! I've also managed my time differently and formed a habit of sleeping at godly hours. Some days have been easier than others, but all the same I've kept the habit going.

2. I recently reached two marvellous milestones : 2000 Blogger Followers and 20,000 Subscribers...WOW! I was so happy when I found out! It's so lovely to know that you all like what I do and constantly show your support. I'm so thankful to have you all in my life! :)

3. I really, really, really would love to own . It's a Lace adorned beauty. Red too. Oh how I love Erdem. He is one of my favourite designers. The way he crafts his designs, so unique and refreshing. I could see myself slipping this on with a pair of black pumps, hair tyed up in a bun, a sweep of black eye-liner and a Ruby Woo pout for a formal dinner do. Ravishing. I'll keep dreaming...

4. LOVE this cover of Bon Iver's by , a 14 year old girl. So beautiful.

5. Valentine's day tomorrow. I have lectures all day! Meh! I'm a single lady so the evening will be spent with my beauty basket - face masks, hair treatments, manicures - movies, and the like! :) What are your plans?

6. By the way I'm wearing Sleek's Fuschia Lipstick on my lips (loving it), and these very sexy glasses are from H&M! ;)

Spring Dreaming. ❀

Thursday, 10 February 2011

Rain, wind and grey skies. Wrapped up in my cosy blanket, a hot cuppa in one hand, "Twilight" in the other, and the sweet, sweet sound of "" in my ears. I was so hung up on that book for a long time, and days like this made it easier for me to imagine escaping to that little town Forks. I guess that's why I don't complain as much when I spy a grey cloud or feel the light drops of drizzle, because I'd remember when days like this made me smile.

But if I'm being honest, cloudless skies and warm rays of the sun make me smile even more. I can't wait for spring to get here. When the buds of daffodils come to life lighting up the whole place...

Spring dreaming inspired today. :)
