There was a hymn my Grandmother used to sing to me when I was growing up...
"Gentle Jesus, Meek and Mild."
"Gentle Jesus, Meek and Mild."
I always loved having her around, and as we rarely got to see each other (We live on Two different Continents you see), I'd play or read the hymn whenever I thought of her. I started this blog randomly around the fall in 2008, Grandma was in London at the time and because I didn't know what to call it, I decided to call it "meek and mild". I didn't even know what the blog was going to be about, I only started posting properly in Summer 2009.
I often get questions along the lines of "But why the name Meek n Mild? You seem anything but." or "What's the meaning of your blog name?". The latter is a more polite way of asking, and so I go into the long explanation of the meaning behind the name. I know I'm far away from being meek and mild, but there's nothing wrong in living my life everyday striving to be like a person I have faith in.
It only occurred to me moments ago, that I hadn't posted about this, and I thought I should.

I actually never questioned the name. You have always seemed meek and mild to me;? Anyways, love the blog;)
i love the fact that the name is influenced by your faith.
when i was little we used to say
"gentle jesus, meek and mild - loo upon a little child ..."
at the start of our bedtime prayer.
i think its cool that you incorporated part of your faith to keep it constant and 'everyday'.
your grandma would be proud <3

I have wondered why you named the blog meek n mild before but i've never asked because i assumed you were describing yourself as i've always thought you are meek and mild.

Beautiful explanation! x
My mom used to say the first sentence of this hymn before my bedtime every night growing up. So, I immediately connected to it. I think it is a great name for your blog! :)

LOL that is so sweet, the funny thing is that was the prayer that my mom taught us to say as a nighttime prayer. So I know the song.
Great inspiration.
that's very sweet :)

I was wondering too, so thank you for the clarification
Good day,
I just discovered you via YT today. The sibs tag, so fun by the way! As soon as I saw the title of your site...I knew and immediately began singing..."Jesus, Jesus ooooooh what a wonderful child. Jesus (x30 soooo Holy meek and mild. New life to hope to all He brings....," anyhoo. I've sang this song since I was a child. It's one of my ALL time favs. I recently had my Grandma sing it on my Christmas Special. I'm a radio personality. *hmmmm....I should email it to you*
