Feathers & Stripes..

Tuesday, 24 August 2010

This evening was oh so lovely. I was in the delightful company of my sister and a dear friend of ours. We went to see Step up 3D which was great (..amazing dancing and a very good-looking cast. hehe!).
We settled for some drinks afterwards and chilled and chatted, while we enjoyed the cool night's breeze.
There were tonnes of girly giggles and laughter throughout and we honestly had fun.

My ensemble for the evening...

I donned my black & white stripy tee, paired it up with some harem trousers and Oxford brogues, and accesorised the outfit with my feather bag. I popped a bit of colour into the equation with a red lip.

Striped Top: H&M
Harem Trousers: Topshop
Oxford Brogues: New Look
Feather Bag: River Island
Heart-Shaped Ring: New Look

I felt very comfortable in this outfit...and I'm in Lust with my New Oxfords and Feather bag!

I will hopefully be posting a Haul Video/Post tomorrow, as I'm itching to share with you some more of my amazing new buys!

Hope you all had a good start to the week!

Little Cream Dress.

Friday, 20 August 2010

Yesterday felt more like one of those typical days in September, rather than in August... and I liked it. I spent it with my family. We went into town for some retail therapy and I picked up a few things which i'll be sharing with you in my upcoming posts.

I purchased this dress a couple of days ago from H&M for only £25. I love the colour, material and gorgeous frill detailing. It's just beautiful.
It's easily transition-able, can be worn in the summer (..here I paired it with a thin brown belt, some leopard print pumps and a vintage brown bag, accessorised with a scarf.) and in the winter (..could be worn with leggings, boots and a trench).
It's definitely going to be a staple piece in my wardrobe for the coming seasons.

Dress: H&M
Belt: Topshop
Bag: Vintage
Scarf: Vintage
Shoes: Primark

Hope you had a good day.

Pretty Little Liars...

Sunday, 15 August 2010

...has got me hooked!

After I spent my nights in watching The Hills, Vampired Diaries and Gossip Girl (just to name a few) ...all that was left when they subsequently ceased (season/series finales...) was emptyness. Until I stumbled across this program!

It's a series that is centered around the lives of four young friends - Spencer, Aria, Emily and Hanna - who lose a friend - Alison - and after a year of her going missing, they begin to recieve strange messages from someone called "A". (Hint)

Alison's body is eventually found, but the strange messages continue to come in from this "A", threatening to expose all the girls secrets...

*Cue in doomed music*
haha.

It's a great program and it's definately one to watch!

8 Questions Tag. :)

Saturday, 14 August 2010

I was tagged by the sweet Cherrychan108.

The rules of the Tag are to answer the Tag-ee's 8 questions, create your own 8 questions, and then pass it on to 8 other blogger friends! :)

Here are her questions...

1: What's your earliest memory?

It was a very sunny afternoon in East Legon, Accra, Ghana.. I was paddling away in my Grandfather's swimming pool, enjoying my little self and my new bright pink floaters! I was 4 years old.

2: What's the meaning to life?

Hoping to find out soon enough.. Lol!

3: What would you do if you found out that the sky was actually pink all this time?

I would probably be happy, I like the colour Pink!

4: Little Black Dress or Little White Dress?

LBD!! Although i've recently bought an LWD from H&M and I will be styling it in different ways very soon!

5: Who's concert are you dying to go to next?

I haven't bought any tickets to see anyone yet, but i'd love to see Michael Buble in concert! He seems like an incredible performer! I loved watching him on ITV's "An Audience With...". :)

6: I'm a genie and I grant you a wish, what shall it be?

To ease the suffering that many people go through..

7: Cosmopolitan or Glamour Magazine?

GLAMOUR!

8: What's your worst habit?

I have a bit of OCD (C for Cleaning, Monica Style.), that annoys some friends and family at times, would that classify as a bad habit?? Lol!

Hehe!

I'm tagging these lovely ladies...

Zara
Jess
Tobi & Kike
Fleur
Regina
Sophie
Milly
Ore & Tosin

...to answer these 8 questions:

1: Define yourself in one word.

4: Apart from blogging, what else do you do that you enjoy?

Eva Mendes Inspired Makeup Look.

Friday, 6 August 2010

Isn't she just gorgeous?!

I've watched all the movies she has starred in and I especially love her portrayal of the character Sarah Melas in Hitch. Not only is she beautiful, she's smart and Funny too.

When it comes to makeup, Eva's incredible bone structure allows her to pull off anything, but she usually keeps it light, with the occasional pop of colour.

For this look, I pulled inspiration from her recent shoot with W Magazine...

Soft (matte) looking skin, a defined eye liner, up to the crease, and a bold rouge lip.

My Recreation.

Outfit

Top/Dress: Primark
Leggings: Topshop
Cardi: New Look
Belt: Primark
Sandals: Primark
Accessories: New Look

How I achieved the look..

Eyes

With an angled brush and a matte black eyeshadow, I formed a flick on the outer corners, then cut the crease. Using a flat shading brush I filled in the eyelid (Below the crease) with the same black eyeshadow.
I then defined the tightline with a kohl eyeliner, applied some mascara and popped on some falsies.

Carbon Eyeshadow (MAC)
Angled Brush (Sleek)
Flat shading Brush 239 (MAC)
Nocturnal Eye Kohl (Sleek)
Big & Curvy Mascara (TBS)
Eyelashes (Eyelure)

Lips

Using a red lip liner, i defined the lip line, adorned the lips with a rouge lipstick, then blotted with a small tissue.

1000 Kisses lip liner in Red Dynamite (Rimmel)
Lasting Fix Lipstick in Showcase (17)

Face

Powdered the face lightly using a mineral powder, and contoured the cheekbones for that defined look.

Powder/Blush Brush 129 (MAC)
MSF Natural shade dark (MAC)
Face Contour Kit (Sleek)

Rainforest Moisture. :)

Tuesday, 3 August 2010

Whenever I want to invest in a new hair product, I always look for products with moisturising agents, because I believe moisture is the key to keeping my hair healthy. I was given the opportunity to try out the New Rainforest Hair Range by The Body Shop...

~ Moisture for Dry Hair ~
~ Shine for Normal to Dry Hair ~
~ Balance for Oily Hair ~
~ Radiance for Coloured Hair ~

I opted for a range that would cater best for my hair needs (...and wants!).
They kindly sent me the Rainforest Moisture Range ...The Shampoo, Conditioner and Hair Butter! I've used the shampoo with my last two washes, the conditioner with the first of those, and the butter with the second.

The Shampoo
(From £2.00)

On the Box:
"Gently cleanses to moisturise and improve the hair's softness without weighing it down, for a smooth and shiny finish."

First off I have to say, I love the smell of this range!
I'm not one to fuss over shampoos, as I generally just grab any at hand, but I do like the shampoo! It does what it says on the box.

The Conditioner
(From £2.00)

On the Box:
"Conditions to moisturise and improve the hair's softness without weighing it down, for a smooth and shiny finish."

I did find it slightly tough combing through my hair when I had the conditioner in (..as compared to when I use my Humecto by KeraCare), but it did leave my hair with a shine!

The Hair Butter
(From £3.00)

On the Box:
"Luxuriously rich and intensive conditioning treatment for soft, smooth, glossy and tangle-free hair."

I was quite excited to try out the Hair Butter, as their Body Butters are simply divine! It did a good job at conditioning and left my hair feeling ever so soft and shiney! (I left it on for about 10 minutes.)

...

I think it's a good range, certainly pocket friendly. Oh and Eco friendly too! *Thumbs Up* from me! :D
I might just replenish the Shampoo and Hair Butter when I'm all out!

What do you look for when buying hair products?
